Senior Accountant – SaaS Finance Operations

About the Role

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Accountant – SaaS Finance Operations to support and scale a fast-growing SaaS company’s accounting and finance operations.

This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex financial challenges, and takes ownership of full-cycle accounting processes with a strong focus on accuracy, process improvement, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience preparing Financial Statements, managing complex reconciliations, supporting SaaS revenue recognition processes, and partnering cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Monthly Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Prepare full-cycle Financial Statements (FS) and support month-end close processes
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial reports and supporting schedules
• Provide variance analysis against departmental budgets and identify key financial trends
• Review Profit & Loss accounts to ensure proper coding and allocations across departments
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly

Revenue Recognition & SaaS Accounting

• Own reconciliation processes related to deferred revenue and unbilled Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition aligned with SaaS subscription and usage-based billing models
• Assist with complex accounting treatments related to SaaS financial operations

Equity, Fixed Assets & Compliance

• Manage equity accounting processes, including stock-based compensation and ESOP accounting
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, amortization, and depreciation
• Conduct sales tax and economic nexus research across U.S. states and international jurisdictions
• Prepare and maintain accurate sales tax working papers and supporting documentation
• Support year-end close and external audit processes

Process Improvement & Finance Operations

• Contribute to finance team projects and operational improvements
• Identify process inefficiencies and proactively recommend scalable solutions
• Support workflow optimization initiatives as the company continues to grow
• Independently research and resolve accounting issues and reconciliation discrepancies

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with Finance leadership and department heads on budget reviews and reporting analysis
• Coordinate with external partners including:
  • Employer of Record (EOR) representatives
  • International tax advisors
  • External auditors
• Communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders

Requirements

• CPA designation required
• 3–6+ years of accounting experience
• Strong experience preparing full-cycle Financial Statements
• Prior experience in SaaS companies or subscription-based business models strongly preferred
• Deep understanding of month-end close processes and financial reconciliations
• Experience with deferred revenue, accruals, and SaaS revenue recognition
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) preferred
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
• Experience with modern finance tools such as:
  • Wise
  • Float
  • Ramp
  • Plooto
  • Other SaaS finance platforms
• Familiarity with financial reporting and accounting automation tools
