About the Company
Our client is an established U.S.-based law firm with decades of experience in personal injury and criminal defense representation.
The firm represents injury victims in cases such as car and truck accidents, slip and falls, premises liability, wrongful death, and dog bites, and also provides criminal defense. It works with a seasoned team of trial attorneys and legal support staff, and it is committed to professionalism, responsiveness, and strong results for its clients.
The firm is looking to grow its remote support team with legally trained professionals from Latin America.
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented, and legally trained Litigation Paralegal to support the firm's personal injury litigation practice, ideally an attorney or law graduate who wants to apply their legal education and experience in a remote paralegal role.
You will support the Personal Injury Litigation Attorney with case management, discovery, filings, medical records, liens, settlement preparation, client communication, and administrative tasks, while escalating legal decisions to U.S.-licensed counsel.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, fluent in professional English, and able to manage routine case needs independently while working under attorney supervision.
Why This Opportunity?
- Work directly with a U.S. trial law firm on active personal injury litigation.
- Gain practical exposure to U.S. litigation, discovery, medical records, liens, and settlement processes.
- Develop your case management, documentation, and client communication skills.
- Work fully remotely with U.S. Eastern Time business hours.
- Join a growing team with opportunities to learn and take on greater responsibility.
What You'll Do
Litigation & Case Management
- Assist with pleadings, discovery, correspondence, court filings, and service of process.
- Track open records requests, affidavits of service, court deadlines, and case calendars.
- Monitor cases, identify outstanding tasks, and escalate issues requiring attorney attention.
Medical Records & Documentation
- Request, organize, and track medical records and billing statements.
- Follow up with providers and prepare medical treatment and billing summaries.
- Identify missing documentation and maintain complete case files.
Liens & Settlement Support
- Conduct lien lookups and coordinate Medicaid requests.
- Track medical liens, balances, and settlement obligations.
- Prepare settlement distribution statements and closing documents for attorney review.
Client Communication & Administration
- Communicate with clients, providers, insurers, opposing offices, process servers, and government agencies.
- Draft routine correspondence and follow up on outstanding documents and requests.
- Maintain electronic files, case notes, calendars, and expense records.
- Assist with filings, service fees, incoming correspondence, and other case-related administrative tasks.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience.
- Law degree from a recognized university in Mexico or another Latin American country; licensed attorneys are encouraged to apply.
- Advanced written and spoken English proficiency.
- Strong legal research, drafting, organization, document review, and deadline-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases independently and provide accurate status updates.
- Reliable internet, a private workspace, and commitment to confidentiality and information security.
Preferred
- Experience with a U.S. law firm, personal injury litigation, or civil litigation.
- Knowledge of discovery, pleadings, court filings, service of process, and litigation calendars; Georgia procedure experience is a plus.
- Experience with medical records, billing, liens, and settlement documentation.
- Familiarity with MyCase or similar case-management software.
How Success Is Measured
- Accurate case files and timely completion of assignments.
- Reliable calendaring and deadline tracking.
- Consistent follow-up and professional communication.
- Accurate documentation and proactive litigation support.
- Organization, reliability, and proactive communication with the team.
Why Join Us
You'll join a collaborative, fully remote support team that values ownership, professionalism, clear communication, and continuous professional development.
The firm offers hands-on exposure to U.S. personal injury litigation, close work with experienced trial attorneys, and opportunities to grow your expertise in litigation support.
Important Notes
- This is a paralegal and legal support position, not a U.S. attorney position.
- All work is performed under attorney supervision. The position does not authorize independent U.S. legal advice, attorney representation, legal strategy decisions, or unsupervised legal practice. Substantive legal questions and settlement advice must be referred to the assigned attorney.
- The position requires strong ownership of tasks, attention to detail, and reliable follow-through.
- Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a written English and legal-support skills assessment.
- Please submit your CV in English, detailing your legal education, bar admission or professional credentials (if applicable), English proficiency, and relevant litigation or U.S. law firm experience.
This is a fully remote position.
