This role will work closely with internal product, engineering, implementation, and client-facing teams to build and support solutions used by healthcare providers, health systems, and other healthcare organizations operating on Epic.
The ideal candidate has strong experience working with Epic integrations, interoperability workflows, healthcare data standards, and technical troubleshooting. This person should be comfortable collaborating across technical and non-technical teams, supporting production issues, and helping scale reliable solutions in a fast-paced health tech environment.
Epic’s own developer and careers materials emphasize technical work around troubleshooting complex issues, configuring/supporting customer environments, and building around interoperability standards such as FHIR, alongside broader healthcare data exchange workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, test, and maintain integrations involving Epic and adjacent healthcare systems
Support interoperability initiatives using standards such as FHIR, HL7, APIs, and other relevant healthcare data exchange methods
Collaborate with product, engineering, implementation, and customer teams to define technical requirements and deliver scalable solutions
Troubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, and implement long-term fixes
Configure and optimize technical workflows tied to Epic-connected environments
Support client implementations, upgrades, and technical onboarding activities
Translate business and operational healthcare workflows into technical solutions
Monitor integration performance, system reliability, and data quality across connected platforms
Document technical architecture, workflows, support procedures, and implementation guidelines
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliant, secure, and efficient exchange of healthcare data
Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, support practices, and platform stability
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, technical integrations, or healthcare technology roles
Hands-on experience working with Epic-related integrations, workflows, or technical environments
Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability concepts and standards, including FHIR; HL7 knowledge is strongly preferred
Experience working with APIs, JSON, REST services, and system-to-system integrations
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
Ability to work cross-functionally with technical, operational, and client-facing teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience documenting technical solutions and implementation processes
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting healthcare providers, hospitals, health systems, or digital health platforms
Familiarity with Epic interoperability tools, Open Epic resources, or Epic-connected implementation environments
Experience with healthcare workflows such as patient data exchange, provider workflows, scheduling, claims, clinical data, or operational integrations
Experience with SQL, scripting, or backend systems
Familiarity with HIPAA-conscious engineering environments and healthcare data security best practices
Prior experience in SaaS, health tech, or enterprise software environments
Success Profile
The right person for this role is:
highly analytical and solution-oriented
comfortable owning technical issues end to end
proactive in identifying risks and resolving blockers
able to communicate clearly with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
motivated by building reliable systems that improve healthcare operations and outcomes
Why This Role Matters
This role supports critical technical infrastructure and interoperability workflows used by healthcare organizations. Epic publicly highlights its software footprint across hundreds of millions of patient records globally, and its open developer ecosystem includes FHIR APIs, playbooks, and interoperability specifications used to connect external applications and workflows.
